Are You Ready for a STIHL?

STIHL MotoMix® is rated 4.9 out of 5 by 49.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great fuel but pricey I've been using Stihl and other brand trimmers for the better part of 16 years. Sure they will run on mixed pump gas but it will mean shorter maintenance intervals and possibly damage if you don't run the required octane as preignition/detonation becomes more likely. A bad fuel/oil ratio can cause a lean condition and also lower the octane rating as oil inherently drops the octane of fuels. The Moto mix is peace of mind with the added bonus of lengthening the warranty. For all day use on a big job I would have to rely on pump 93 with Stihl oil since I know I can go thru the most of the fuel can fast enough that it wont need to be stored for very long. Then give it a fresh tank of moto mix towards the end if the job to clean out the pump mix and ready it for storage.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great stuff I was not the most impressed with the cost of this fuel, but after over a year of using it, I have come to like it. Using gas & oil mix, I'd use 1-2 gallons of gas & oil mix a year. The 1 gallon container would not get used in a timely manner, and I ended up pouring the gas/oil mix in my old gas tractor, which did not seem to mind it. On my gas powered Stihl equipment, using gas/oil, I would drain the fuel out, I'd start it up, and let it run till it died, after each use, if going to set idle for a while. Don't have to do that anymore using the pre-mix fuel. I wouldn't mind if the price came down a bit. If I was a heavy fuel user, I would probably still be mixing the gas/oil. Unfortunately, no fuel suppliers near where we live sell ethanol free fuel anymore. If using this MotoMix fuel eliminates carb issues, and helps my Stihl equipment last longer, so be it. A note to Stihl, go back to the round cans. They seem to pour better that the square can, at least that is my take on it. I now pour the square can of fuel into the round can, that was before the square one. Dealer stated that the square can has a handle, well, so what.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Expensive But Worth It. I go through about 5 gallons per year and use this fuel exclusively for all my Stihl equipment powered by 2 stroke engines. It's extraordinarily expensive, but worth it.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not the best. My STIHL equipment does not like to run with the motomix. It runs the best with pump gas with the STIHL oil. It's also not powerful at all with motomix.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Plain and simple surefire 2 stroke fuel I use this in all of my 2 cycle equipment. Stays stable forever and I have never, ever had a carb problem with it. I still drain my winter equipment dry in the spring but I have had fuel in my chain saw for extended periods of time and she starts and runs like a champ. The extra cost is worth just knowing that when I pull the cord or turn the key I am not going to be surprised.Just buy it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Pre-Mixed Non-Ethanol Motomix is good fuel, but its non-ethanol 90-94 octane mixed with Stihl synthetic. For the same cost of a quart, you can buy 2 gallons of 94 octane non-ethanol and a bottle of Stihl Synthetic. Before I bought non-ethanol, I ran Stihl equipment on premium ethanol gas treated with Lucas or Star Tron fuel stabilizers and those chainsaws, trimmers and blowers still run fine today. That’s 20+ years and no carb issues. If you treat your gas and keep your equipment and filters clean, your Stihl equipment will last a lifetime (I still have blowers and chainsaws my father bought). I now buy bulk 100 octane non-ethanol for the farm from the same place I get bulk off-highway diesel. I have noticed my Stihl equipment runs and sounds a little better. If your a homeowner and use your Stihl equipment sparingly, or just blow leaves, Motomix might be a good choice (there are similar products VP Racing, Trufuel). For a farm, I would have to buy pallet loads which doesn’t make sense.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from MotoMix I like the time factor. It lasts 2 years open where as petrol and oil mix does not last that long before it goes old and not useable. The products was recommened when I brought my new Stihl brushcutter. Ralph

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for homeowner or occasional user I use this in all my 2 stroke power tools. I usually run through about one can in my stihl ms251 and one can in my trimmer per season so the cost does not effect me much compared to a gallon of gas and container of 2 stroke oil. Also there are not many gas stations in my area that offer non oxy gas so it saves the hassle of trying to find that. The containers make it easy to throw in the back of the truck without worrying about them spilling. It makes it very easy to throw one of these and my bar oil into a 5 gallon bucket and head out into the woods to cut firewood or clean up the atv trails.
